From Concept to Creation: The Journey of a Bespoke Piece

The journey of a bespoke piece always starts with a story—a story brought by the client. What is the occasion? What is important to them? What do they love and hate? Are there any meaningful symbols they want to incorporate?
These are the questions we explore in depth during our initial consultation. From there, we address practical matters like budget, timeline, and materials.

The Research Phase: Finding the Right Direction

After the consultation, my first task is to find the right direction for the piece. Research is one of the most important parts of my process. From cultural interpretations to historical references, I seek inspiration in non-trivial and unusual sources, often connecting them to the theme of jewelry. This phase feeds my curiosity about the world, allowing me to explore and discover before diving into the visual work.

Sketching and Experimenting

As ideas start to take shape, sketches and other forms of representation come into play. Unlike traditional jewelry designers who rely solely on sketches, I embrace technology as part of my workflow. I often use 3D programs like Rhino and Blender to outline and experiment with certain elements.

This approach gives me a significant advantage in exploring designs in a 3D space, ensuring that my ideas translate seamlessly into physical objects. Jewelry design is a blend of artistic expression and precision engineering. Steve Jobs famously insisted that the inside of his machines looked as beautiful as the outside—a philosophy I deeply resonate with and incorporate into my designs. Technology allows me to execute ideas with perfection.

Presenting and Refining Designs

Once I’ve developed initial concepts, I present the design directions to the client. Depending on the project, there may be three distinct directions or just one. Together with the client, we refine the vision, settling on a direction that feels just right for them.
From there, I fine-tune the design, focusing on the smallest details to perfect its aesthetics, wearability, and longevity. Jewelry must not only look stunning but also stand the test of time—both in style and craftsmanship.

The Manufacturing Process

Once the design is finalized, the next phase is bringing it to life. The manufacturing begins with detailed 3D models and technical files guiding the hand-made process to ensure every element of the design is executed flawlessly.
Collaboration is key during this stage. From initial casting to the final polish, we maintain open communication to address any refinements needed along the way. It’s this partnership that ensures the final piece is not just beautiful but also of the highest quality, ready to be cherished for a lifetime.

The Final Result

The process of creating a bespoke piece is as much about the journey as it is about the result. It’s a collaborative effort, blending the client’s story with my expertise in design and craftsmanship. Together, we create something truly unique—a piece that reflects their personality, values, and vision.
