The story

Andrea works in software. Maria Paola is a landscape architect who cares deeply about nature and her local community. Andrea wanted a ring that felt classic and precious, but with a character that was unmistakably hers.

Why roots

Maria Paola shapes landscapes for a living, so the setting grows from the ground up. The eagle claws rise like roots to hold the oval diamond: a small tribute to the plants and places she cares for. The soft curves come from Art Nouveau. The roots are also theirs, a nod to how strong they are together and to the place they both grew up.

The shops first

Andrea looked in shops and at the big brands first. Nothing balanced meaningful design with a fair price.

Knowing her

Andrea is a close friend. Antonino went on to be a groomsman at his wedding, so we knew them both well. Maria Paola wanted something classy, unique and precious: a quiet confirmation of who she is.

Yellow or white

A long back and forth between yellow and white gold. White won, paired with a diamond that has a warm hint of colour, beautiful against her skin.

Making

Handmade in 18K white gold by our master artisans in Florence, in about six weeks.

Delivery

For once, we handed it over in person and got to see Andrea’s face. He proposed in Turkey, with another friend carrying the ring so the surprise stayed safe.

D-shaped cathedral shank in 18K white gold. A natural 1.02 ct oval diamond with a warm colour grade, held in eagle claws shaped like roots.
